Boycott Yahoo/Geocities Web Hosting

Are you aware that every time you visit a Yahoo/Geocities web site a worm is placed on your computer? That's right. The I-Worm.JS.GeoVisit.Based worm is on your computer and the most popular virus protection software programs do not detect it.

I downloaded a little piece of software a friend recommended called Ghostbusters. This is the program that detected the worm. You can run the program to see if you have the worm on your computer but you can't clean it unless you purchase the software for $19.95. I suggest you download the software and check your computer for this worm.

Granted: Yahoo/Geocities gives you the option to opt out but the casual visitor doesn't know this unless they visit the Yahoo/Geocities privacy page before ever visiting a personal web site on their server. This is the worst case of invasion of privacy I've ever witnessed.

I went to the privacy page and clicked the opt out button after I had received this worm several times. I then went to a Geo site and didn't get the worm. How did Yahoo/Geocities know who it was that clicked that "opt out" button? I wasn't asked to set a cookie. I wasn't asked for a name. This indictates to me that Yahoo/Geocities may have already had my information because of the WORM.

Note: Once you clean out your cookies and go back to a Geocities hosted web site, the worm is back. When you "opt out," Geocities places a cookie without the opportunity to accept or reject it. There's no warning you're going to get this cookie so you're still being monitored and they don't tell you that "opting out" is something you have to do every time you go to their hosted sites.

Please take a minute to file a complaint with Yahoo/Geocities at E-mail or use the form.

"There is no stepping stone for a pedophile from going from adult pornography to child pornography," said Debbie Mahoney, founder of "Safeguarding Our Children."

"....adult Webmasters staged a charity auction that raised more than $45,000 for the children’s advocacy group Soc-um.org.... But even as the Webmasters were being applauded for their philanthropy, several women dressed as young schoolgirls were roaming the convention floor, handing out brochures and posing for photos with plaid skirts hiked up and hands on one another’s breasts and buttocks. Other ads for 'teen content' could be found...."

The effects of pornography are well documented.

Researchers from both secular and religious organizations have repeatedly come up with similar results: pornography is addictive, it is harmful to both the consumer and to the people involved in production. Adult pornography almost universally features people who were victims of child sexual abuse. Adult pornography also is closely linked with child pornography. Indeed most adult porn websites feature ads intimating that child porn is available on their sites. They advertise "teens" and "lolitas" and infinite other combinations suggesting children in pornographic settings.

The Supreme Court has ruled that adult pornography is lawful. That, however, does not make it moral or ethical. Association with adult pornographers means associating with immoral and unethical persons.

Acceptance of money from such people is "blood money." It is tainted and unclean. For a "child advocacy" group to accept such money is simply incredulous. However, that is exactly what the group "Safeguarding Our Children-United Mothers" (SOC-UM) has done. They not only accepted a reported $80,000 from pornographers, the donation was given to the founder of this organization when she appeared at the annual pornographers convention in New Orleans in September 2000. At that time she was quoted as saying that there is no relationship or link between adult pornography and child pornography. This is not simply naivete on her part. She is well educated and has been involved in advocacy issues for several years. No, this was simply dangerous, irresponsible talk.

Scripture speaks plainly about association with the forces of evil. Ephesians 5:11,12 says, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret."

We challenge SOC-UM to live up to the standards that children would have of this group. We challenge SOC-UM to do the moral, ethical thing: RETURN THE MONEY RECEIVED AND RENOUNCE ANY SUPPORT OF THE ADULT PORNOGRAPHERS. Doing this is the only way to regain... respectability....

Sexually Indiscriminate . . . . Child pornography will only be a small portion of his potentially large and varied collection, however."

"The morally indiscriminate child molester might collect pornography or erotica of a predominately sadomasochistic theme but probably will not save the same material year after year. The sexually indiscriminate individual is most likely to have an extensive collection; however, the vast majority of it will not be child oriented. His material might display a wide variety of sexual activity and perversions, with child pornography being only one small portion."
