"Thank you very much for the continuing support of CIVITAS in your superb Journal 'Write To Heal.' I am impressed by the quality of this work and your insight into this area. One of the most important things for individuals who have been traumatized is to stop continuing victimization by being passive. Actively transforming pain in the creative process is dramatically helpful for individuals. I applaud you for your work and for all the people who contribute to your journal for their strength...."

Baylor College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry

Founded and launched by Anne M. Cox in January 1992, Write To Heal is a forum by and for people who've survived and those who've served as allies in our healing from wounds such as abuse, abandonment, alcoholism, bereavement, chronic illness, crime, divorce, job loss, natural disaster, trauma, and just plain ol' heartache and disappointment.

Write To Heal is not meant to be a replacement for counseling. The publisher, editors, writers, and volunteer contributors do not dissuade anyone from seeking and staying with professional treatment from a licensed emotional and/or physical health care professional. We want people to be informed, educated consumers.

Readers can benefit from Write To Heal. Readers may identify with something someone has written--survivors sharing experiences show others they are not alone in what they are going through. We can learn from and help one another heal by reaching out, by telling our stories, and, it is hoped, by discussing what we've read or written.

Write To Heal works best as a supplement to--not a replacement for--counseling from a competent, qualified, licensed professional. The publisher, editors and contributors of Write To Heal assume no responsibility for readers' thoughts, feelings, and/or actions.

"I...teach Law and Ethics for Marriage Counselors...so I spend a lot of time dealing with ethical considerations in clinical practice. If everyone in our community put the thought and deliberation into their efforts and work that Anne naturally and routinely does, we'd all be better off for it. She is meticulous in her decisions about what to print and say, what to support or endorse, how to respond. She is thoughtful. She is caring. She is truly devoted to the 'greater good'....After years in law I have become all too jaded, but I have the utmost respect for Anne's work and for the person she is and is becoming...."   Mary K. Stroube, Attorney At Law

"Just wanted to say that I thought your special edition, 'Healing Our Heartland,' was well done and a wonderful tribute to those who have been traumatized by the madness of the Oklahoma bombing. It is so easy to destroy--a word, a letter, a wrongful touch, a bomb. It is so much harder to construct--whether it be friendships or buildings. I appreciated your comments directed at the media, 'Exercising caution, care and concern for possible consequences are far better options than confronting forms of censorship.'"   Pamela Freyd, Ph.D., Executive Director, False Memory Syndrome Foundation

"Congratulations on the [1996 Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission nomination] Fellowship for Literary Artists award. I've been going through my desk full of mail, etc., and found and reread some of your 'Write To Heal' material. I hope you are well and continuing the good ministry you have...."

Publisher's Principle

The publisher of Write To Heal and Write To Tell has never knowingly printed any falsehoods. When she finds that something is in error, she addresses it immediately. Neither publication has nor will be used by anyone as a facade for that person to engage in any form of criminal activity. The record reflects that Anne M. Cox, the publisher, has and will report to the appropriate authorities.
