Thank you, Beckie and Tina!

Some say: A society may be judged by how the youngest and most vulnerable ~ people within that society ~ are treated: Children; Seniors; and, Disabled. Those are but three of several groups of people who most often enter our minds as we think of who is vulnerable in our society. There are far more people in various groups and sub-groups also at risk, though the ones listed are considered more prevalently.

The physical violence, and the psychological and spiritual wounding, to which people are subjected is a yardstick by which we may assess our successes and our shortcomings.

All too often, children are caught in a crossfire ignited by adults.

As a society, we don't fare well.

Any day, any year: Anyplace America. News trumpets the effects of our collective signature left as a legacy imprinted against children's lives: Taken away, deprived, stolen. Children dying by their parents' hands ~ in a jealous rage, hostage situation, domestic violence....

We are blind-sided by our pre-occupation with treating each tragedy as an incident in and of itself.

We deny, we overlook, we ignore, we look the other way, we wait for someone else to come along, we want answers, we become aware, we demand, we stand ~ for children.

We are standing still: Children are being killed and killing one another. We fault parents, and we second-guess CPS, DHHS and law enforcement.

We each need to assess: How does this effect the rest of us? How can we help?

Educate and Relate: An assortment of opportunities is available by contacting groups seeking support and elected representatives anticipating input from constituents.

It's not low tolerance for child abusers, sex offenders and child killers. It's no tolerance. No light sentence; no differential application of laws and no invisible line drawn depending on whether the perpetrator lived within or outside the residence of the child victimized. No difference: The child's life is affected.
